Stripes & Floral Midi-Skirts

Striped_Tee_Floral_Midi_Skirt

Meet my new favorite skirt to wear to work. This baby is the perfect length for a business casual environment, pairs well with so many colors, and is perfect for twirling around.

Alex brought this skirt up to NYC with him last weekend since he told me it had arrived in the mail and I could not wait to try it on. Once it was on I was so so happy with my purchase that I insisted we take photos for the blog right away (thanks for being a good sport Alex). We took these photos on Saturday morning at the South Street Seaport on the lower east side of Manhattan. This little area has some cute little shops, restaurants, and bars and is one of my favorite spots for happy hour after work!

I love pairing stripes and floral together for a fun, casual look and I think this combo is going to become one of my go-to brunch looks in the spring and fall. I also already wore this skirt to work on Monday and I'm already planning the business casual outfit I want to shoot for the blog.

What do you guys think? Do you wear midi-skirts for work? What do you think of this one?

I was so excited when this shirt came back into stock online and immediately placed an order. It arrived last week and I could not wait to wear it around the city this past weekend. I wore this outfit on Sunday to brunch at The Smith and then shopping in SoHo, as I mentioned in this post. It was the perfect breezy top for the afternoon and I already know it's going to be on repeat in my rotation this year.

Additionally, I had to pair it with my turquoise tassel earrings from Lisi Lerch. These earrings are one of my most worn pieces all summer season and I get compliments every time I wear them. I know I've featured them on the blog before (and I will again) but just take this as a PSA and order them before they sell out this year. I am contemplating ordering the gold pair just to have another color.

What do you think of this look? Do you wear a lot of white and blue in the summer?

Spring Uniform

Thursday, April 21, 2016

I think interesting details on an otherwise basic piece are one of the number one things I look for in a piece of new clothing. Take this striped short-sleeve top, for instance, in the front it looks like a basic t-shirt. However, the button detail and v-cut back add interesting details to take it to the next level.

Maybe that's why I end up with so many pieces of clothing that don't work with a lot of other things (I am planning on doing a YouTube video or something of some of my more ridiculous pieces of clothing). That said, I think this top is a real winner, the special details make the top interesting yet its basic enough that I can wear it all the time. It's the perfect part of my "uniform" so to speak for Spring. A lightweight jacket, my trusty rainboots (you never know), comfortable jeans (discussed in more detail here), and a simple striped top

Anyways, it's Thursday which means Friday is just around the corner. I REALLY can't wait for this weekend because vacation is right around the corner! And I'm thinking of changing over my wardrobe for Summer? Will I jinx it if I do?

What do you think? Do you prefer more basic pieces or items of clothing that have extra-elements? What's your Spring uniform?

Hey guys! Happy Tuesday! I hope your weeks are off to a great start. I'm actually pretty excited because I have a couple of fun "NYC' activities to do after work this week, and the weather is FINALLY cooperating. Tonight I'm headed to dinner at Raclette in the Lower East Side with one of my roommates from Tulane, Risa. I am excited for ALL THE CHEESE. I hope to capture a perfectly Instagram-able moment, because #bloggerproblems.

Anyways, today I wanted to share this outfit with you that I wore two weekends ago to brunch with my parents and then to run errands around Philly. I am in love with this chambray top, see last weeks post here where I proclaim my love for all things chambray. I love that this top can be worn on or off-shoulder. Which means this will not be the last time you see this little number on the blog (hint hint).

Also, these high-waisted AG jeans are amazing. They're super soft and stretchy and honestly feel more like a pair of sweatpants than jeans. They are the perfect jeans for traveling because you can look more put together than wearing yoga pants, but sacrifice no comfort. I actually sized up on these, due to the reviews, and mine are extra-loose. I think if you want a more fitted feel (that's still comfy) you should order your normal size, or size up to obtain the magical sweatpant jeans!

Hope your Tuesday is amazing!

Chambray Midi-Skirt

Thursday, April 14, 2016

Outfit: Chambray Midi Skirt (on sale) // ASOS Off-Shoulder Top, old, similar here, here, and here
Espadrille Wedges (similar here and here) // Pearl Studs (exact, similar)

I love wearing chambray in the Spring. I actually remember buying my first chambray piece of clothing, a chambray button-down from Lucky Brand back when I was in high school. I always used to buy jeans from them in high school because they made longer length denim that I could try-on in stores back when long length pants were not as common. I was in the store with my mom and spotted the top on the clearance rack for about $25 and asked my mom if I could get it. She rolled her eyes, because who wanted a denim button-down, but got it for me anyways. My obsession with the fabric was born.

Now, luckily for me, chambray is available in so many fun pieces and is widely accepted as a versatile clothing item. I spotted this chambray midi-skirt on the Old Navy website and knew that it would be a great item to add to my wardrobe for the Spring. I decided to wear it with a breezy off-shoulder top (so glad those are back in again this year). Unfortunately, my exact top is from last year, but I linked a couple of fun alternative striped off-shoulder options above. I am constantly adding off-shoulder tops to my cart and am so tempted to load up on them, because they are so cute! Gimme them all!

Are you loving all the chambray and off-shoulder options this spring? If you have any favorite pieces I'd love to check them out!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Monday, April 11, 2016

Happy Monday guys! Even though it might not feel like it, Spring is in full swing, including baseball season! Today is the Phillies' home opener at Citizen's Bank Park in South Philly! Even though I'm back in NYC for work this week, I thought it'd be fun to share what I'd wear to the game if I was able to go tonight!

Outfit: Jean Jacket (similar) // Jack Rogers sandals in Platinum (on sale for under $100)
Duke & Winston Tank Top (sold out, but here's an adorable sweatshirt version, on sale)
White Jeggings (similar) // New Era Phillies Cap // Pearl Studs (exact, similar)

I love Red, White, and Blue as a combo in my outfits, it's very convenient that these are the colors of the Phillies! I decided to wear a bold red lip, jean jacket, and white jeans to really get in the spirit of red, white, and blue.

Will you be going to any baseball games this Spring? What will you be wearing? How was your weekend? I hope you have a great day!

Stripes & Skinny Jeans

Tory Burch Striped Espadrilles (last season, but love these and these for this year)

Happy Tuesday everyone! Oh my, what a month March has been. If you didn't see my post from last Friday, you can head over there now to read all about the little break I needed to take. It's been a really busy month, between projects being due at work, traveling between NYC and Philly, and getting sick it's just been crazy. I actually took a sick day from work yesterday and was home all day with a fever and horrible cough, just when I thought things were getting back on track! Sometimes it feels like you just can't win. Ever have some of those moments?

Anyways, I did manage to shoot one outfit this weekend, even though I have a few more ready to go, I just need to shoot them for you! This outfit is basically my Spring uniform. A slouchy striped tee, dark wash skinny jeans, and easy espadrilles and I'm good to go. I finally invested in a pair of Rag & Bone Jeans after pining after them and seeing them on other people's blogs for years. I love them. They are on the pricier side, but the quality is so nice and they make my legs look so much better than their cheaper alternatives.

I also decided to bite the bullet and order a Saint James striped t-shirt for Spring. Although $70 for a t-shirt might seem absurd, they are a classic piece that will never go out of style. The fit is very generous, I'm wearing a medium in these photos but it fits like a large or extra-large, which I really like. If you're looking for a more fitted top, I'd suggest sizing down two sizes. I'm already deciding what color I want to get next, I love this shirt that much!

Lastly, I wanted to feature my new Jon Hart Backpack. I picked this up for commuting on Amtrak between NYC and Philly on the weekends so I could have a cute back to throw my essentials into and avoid lugging a suitcase every week. This backpack is perfect, I love that you can customize the color choices and add a monogram to personalize it. It's great quality and came so quickly. If you want a backpack that doesn't look like something you might've carried in middle school then I highly recommend!

Hopefully things will start slowing down to normal so I can get out the posts I've been planning for you all! I hope you're having a great week and a happy Spring so far!
