Necklace (mine says '504') // Lipstick (Belle de Jour) // Flats

We took these photos during the "golden hour" at Schuylkilll (pronounced scool-kill)  River Trail last week. It was actually pretty warm for fall and such a beautiful day that I'm glad we captured it. The river trail is only 3 blocks from our apartment and is runs all along the Schuylkill river, from South Street all the way past Boathouse Row and down Kelly Drive. It's a beautiful trail to go on a run or walk down. When I was breaking in my hiking boots for my trip to Peru I remember making my dad walk up and down the trail with me last fall, even though the blisters I got from the boots weren't fun, the time spent with my family in my beautiful city is something I'll remember for a long time.

Anyways, this outfit is so so simple but so perfect for fall. I've had this navy trench coat since high school and I always get so many compliments on it. I think it's one of those pieces you should invest in as you will wear it endless times for years to come. On this particular day, I paired my trench with a navy and white striped (one of my favorite patterns, red color worn here) tissue turtleneck and my favorite boyfriend jeans (also worn here). It was the perfect outfit for a warm fall afternoon by the river.

Also, side note about my necklace. I have worn this one, or my bar necklace in pretty much every photo on this blog so far. Obviously I'm a fan of them. They are the engraveable necklaces by Stella & Dot. You can customize them to say pretty much anything you want, my bar necklace says "Laura" (my version of the Carrie necklace) and my circle necklace says '504' which is the area code for New Orleans where I went to college. I wear them separately or layer them together. I get so many compliments and inquiries as to where to get them that I figured I would give a few more details about them here! You can also get script monograms or other writing styles, its definitely worth a look if you're in the market for personalized affordable jewelry!

Do you have a favorite investment piece? What do you think of this look?

    1. Thanks Laura! Yes, I think the best part of a trench is it can be adjusted at the waist to provide such a flattering fit!

  2. Love your trench! I'd say my favorite classic coats are my Burberry quilted coat and Barbour Beadnell.

  3. I just want to say I love your style because you put together outfits I feel like I could realistically achieve and wear out in the world! I definitely need to invest in a trench. Last year, I bit the bullet on a quilted jacket and I'm glad I did!

    1. Thanks Ally! That's one of my goals with this whole thing, trying to provide realistic outfit inspiration and show people pieces they may have missed otherwise. I also have a quilted jacket and I use it sooo much in the fall, its on rotation with my field jacket and trench! You should look at Banana Republic's trenches, that's where mine is from and it's held up very well!
