Los Angeles Recommendations?

Hey friends! Happy Friday! I'm so so excited it's finally the weekend! I'm heading back to Philly tonight and excited that I'll be going to dinner at one of my favorite spots in the city, Sampan, for a work event. Then I need to get down to packing, running errands, and cleaning the apartment because Alex and I leave for L.A. next Tuesday! I was in L.A. in November for work training, but I didn't get a chance to explore as much as I would've liked. Luckily, Alex's cousin is getting married next Saturday and she just happens to live in L.A.

We'll be staying in a home Alex's family rented just a mile off Venice Beach and I'm so excited. Sunny, warm, beach days are calling my name! We're going to have three full days to explore before the wedding so I'd love your recommendations if you're from the area or have visited!

I'd especially love any bar/restaurant recommendations and any good places to grab breakfast and coffee near Venice Beach! I plan on brining my camera and hopefully getting some good pictures for the blog, but follow along on Snapchat and Instagram (@lauraaimevous on both) for real-time updates!

Have a great weekend and thanks for your tips!

  1. I've only been to L.A. once and that was for my bachelorette party. My girlfriends did an excellent job planning. I don't know all of the current hot spots, but you can check a recap I did that lists some of them. We really enjoyed hiking Runyon Canyon...beautiful views! Lunch at the Ivy was also a great experience. Chateau Marmont is also a great spot for celebrity sightings. And speaking of, if you're into the Housewives, you should check our SUR. Here's the link to my recap if your interested: http://www.apolishedpalate.com/2015/09/los-angeles-barbie-party-tbt.html I hope you have a great time!

  3. I love LA! I've traveled there a few times and always manage to find something new on each visit! Last trip we went for a drive to see the Korean Friendship Bell (I posted photos to my blog http://www.celebratingthislife.ca/2014/11/sightseeing-in-la.html#.VxpWUFXIbv4) Because I love baseball I would recommend a Dodgers game. Try and take the tour before the game, it's very informative. Santa Monica Pier is a lot of fun, head to Shutters for lunch or dinner, and walking up and down Rodeo is a blast. Make sure to stop at Coffee Bean, they have the best hot and iced coffees! Have fun! xx Rox-Anne, Celebratingthislife.ca

  4. I love LA! I lived there for a couple years. Since you'll be in Venice, I would recommend getting over to Santa Monica and walking along the Pier. There's also lots of shopping and food there. Westwood is also close by, and there are some fun bars around there. West Hollywood is fun to walk through, with lots of art galleries, and it's right next to Beverly Hills. Have so much fun!

  6. Go to the Cow's End in Venice Beach for coffee/breakfast and just hang out and people watch for a little while. I can't even tell you how many incognito celebrities I've spotted there.
